There is free parking in The Wey Inn car park, in front, to the side and behind the pub.

Godalming salsa venue is in a function room attached to the pub and therefore has a fully licensed bar available to our dancers. Therefore we respectfully request that dancers refrain from bringing in their own drinks to the venue.

Our Godalming salsa venue is a cosy function room with a wooden floor and a real log fire at the rear of The Wey Inn. It has a side entrance in from the car park, as well as being accessible from the main bar area. The pub has recently changed hands and has been refurbished throughout including the function room.

The function room is not huge so seats are positioned around the edge of the wooden floor, with minimal tables to maximise dance space. Unfortunately, due to the size of the hall we are unable to offer a separate practise area in the room during the intermediates. The floor is real wood, so stilettos are not allowed at this venue!

On a regular class night, we have a range of salsa dancers in Godalming, some have done no dancing at all previous to joining us, while others are very experienced in other dance styles but not in salsa. Most of our Godalming crowd have only being doing salsa since we opened in January.
However on our special events and party nights we have had many experienced salsa dancers and even teachers come along for a freestyle and to socialise.
Our Godalming crew are mixed ability from Emz and Bazz (usually seen on the door) who are fairly new to salsa, to Jules who has been dancing salsa for over 13 years, and to Danny who although only having started salsa late last year is progressing very fast and training to become a salsa teacher. We have a warm and relaxed atmosphere where everyone dances and practises together. We love to dance so please come and ask us, if we don't ask you first!

We normally start with beginners moves but if there are no beginners present, we might do more improvers moves instead. The beginners are always taught the same four moves each week, but we may vary the hand hold or practise some footwork or techniques.
Then we take a short break for people to make notes, go to the bar etc., after which we progress to improvers moves. Even complete beginners join in even if it is their first time as the moves are taught at a slow pace so they are easy to follow, even for our newcomers.
There is then another brief break before our intermediate class. Everyone is welcome to attempt the class, however, beginners might find this class difficult and prefer to watch instead. If you fancy giving it a go, we promise to talk you through slowly and clearly and our more experienced dancers are usually good at helping out beginners if they find it very challenging.

Jules is the teacher - she ia a UKA qualified salsa teacher, and has also taught modern jive, salsafit and pilates.
Barry or Emz are our door staff - Emz, is quite new but addicted to salsa, and often joins in the dancing. Barry is also quite new to salsa and has been known to dance occasionally if nagged or after a few drinks!
Danny has only been learning salsa since late last year but is a natural and is training to teach salsa. He often helps Jules teach the class or demonstrate moves and can also sometimes be seen on the door.

We play range of salsa music from traditional cuban tunes to Latin pop songs, salsa style remixes of popular hits, R&B, salsa fusion tracks, and anything else that gets requested. If we haven't got what you request we will do our best to get it for the next week, so please let us know if you have any favorites!
